Words are my drug…

trembling, emotion infused…

exhilarating fascination with fiction… fantastical friction

fire-lit on cold nights… intoxication born in shadows and moonsong…

melodic medicine poured deep in my sunset smiles as morning kisses night’s dark cheek…

a scent wafting on the wind…

rivers racing in the radiance of day…

love-linked letters in the lingering light… a child’s voice that is my own from across the years…

iced laughter before the tears…

warm breath on my neck in shades of dusk… lip-licking beauty…

glimpses of soft skies in summer… screams from the numberless and nameless… mindscapes on foggy drives home … a cry in the night from Want…

dreamscapes as sleep dances… desires undone…

these are the muses of my mind…

Author's Note

An owl on the moon
To finish my first novel, An Owl on the Moon, I listened to Sting’s “Desert Rose” no less than a hundred times… It made my mind like a flame set free in a forest… Such are the muses of my mind… What brings words alive in you?

I have a feeling YOU will be something to bring alive the words in me. Other then that, the experiences of life, and music. Like you, music. I hear a song and fall into a world so incredibly uncontrolled if the music stops I cannot continue writing unless I press the play button again. I've spent countless hours listening to the same songs, I thought I was crazy but maybe not. Then again, maybe we're both crazy?

I love how you convey your love and need of words and writing. I also enjoy the pictures that you choose for the individual pieces that you write. Truly awesome! Right on and write on! :)

This was wonderful, Craig. Muses are what cause the words to spring alive and dance. What a very captivating poem here. Well written.

Radiant and imaginative write! The muses of your mind must be over zealous in inspiration. I have yet to read anything of yours that isn't breath taking in its beauty and intricasies. You have a new fan.

Many things can inspire us to write, a nicely penned glimpse, excellent poem, nicely creative poetic pen upon it.

Thank you. Searching for one of yours I could land on and grab onto. This was it. Why I don't know except I love how the rhythm kept tumbling me forward forward faster... quick glimpses into your mind along the way.

...Brought me back to my many days spent body surfing @ the beach. Wave after wave after wave.

i agree that words can spark inspiration, especially lyrics. you poem is lyrical and uses beautiful language; like you are an artist sculpting a masterpiece, so are you the master of words sculpting a poem. excellent piece.

The muse born within, just needs something or someone to unlock.

This is really great...I have been trying to really focus on writing like I haven't before and attempting to get in that space is often a challenge. I love how you beautifully put these muses in your head into words, very fanciful, full of passion. And I love what you shared in the comment too.
