2977

waking in precious peace

smiling… sighing

speaking of life

2977

boarded planes

viewed the world from windows

thought of dreams and endless sunsets

2977

worked the mundane

wondered of love to come

grinned in a first plane trip

2977

Flight 11 North Tower New York…8:46 am

Flight 175 South Tower  New York…9:03 am

Flight 77 Pentagon Washington DC …9:37 am

2977

South Tower collapsed…9:59 am

Flight 93 Shanksville, Pennsylvania…10:03 am

North Tower collapsed…10:28 am

2977

September day rips past and present

so many unidentifiable lives

mourning doves sing

2977

they live now in the remembering

10 years of recollections

a fullness of life

2977

Well done Craig this is a brilliant write, may the ones who died be resting in a better place and looking down upon the ones they lost ..... death is never the end just a change of frequency

I'm in the process of finishing a 9/11 tribute poem as well...Doesn't seem like much other then a cathartic way too show we care...but nothing we do or say seems to provide solace...it was just so senseless and needless and unforgettable. I think your write set the tone...nothing fancy... just a reminder of who we are and what we stand for... a footnote to the survivors and the victim's families, that we will never forget....like the Holocaust....can never forget, that horrific, tragic day.
Good job, Craig

Sad it was .I remember as all do what we lost that day .Our innocence!

In the muddle that we sometimes encounter, like a Ahab after a whale, our lives entwine with a convolution that is unprecedented. Making sense of it may begin with the numbers and the facts. Its a start.

Had to stay to read this, crying, sad. That picture, your words .. a memory of an unbelievable tragedy.

Although I am so far away, I still remember what I was doing at that particular time, when it flashed on our T.V. screens. I never put the T.V. off for 2 days as I watched in horror, sick to the stomach, praying every second for it to stop or be a bad dream, when in fact it was a living nightmare.

Your details are frighteningly explicit.

Praying for this day to come and go in peace.
Thanks for share although I wish you didn't have to

Babs xx

But for a premonition, I may have been one of your statistics. For me this day will always bring me back to the surreal feeling of traveling the empty streets of New Jersey and watching, as night fell, the skyline lit up by beacons shrouded in dust. The skyline that was not there.

May we as a nation one day learn to stop living in the shadow of the fear this event evoked for so many. May we once again open closed hearts.

wow-- I commend you on doing your research. I love factual poetry. it just has a different taste apart from the usual emotional appeal.

which, speaking of, my heart always sinks at the thought of 9/11. though I hope the families that suffered the death of family members and friends find the strength to move on in their lives, I don't think this is a day that should ever be forgotten.
