DORMANT IN DAY

DORMANT IN DAY

A Poem by An owl on the moon

Cold, stagnant air clenching...

Dormant in day

cold,
stagnant air clenching

and you standing

plastic
picture-frame smile

while parasites feed

on barren limbs

desolate apparitions

hallucinations

discarded tendrils

stems
and strands

bleak barriers

dormant
dalliance
dawdling

only sighing, sleeping

hidden roots
creeping

quiescent
embrace
when winter fades

season’s dance begins

come… call…cry…

for spring soon awakens…

This is very dark but there is hope at the end. I got chills as I read this, the imagery is outstanding and on the chilling side. Awesome poem!

Progess can not be made if we just stand n one place... only with action can we accomplish our dreams... a very unique writing Craig.

Good one..Life has its ups and downs..When we are in the downs, we learn so much about life.I am glad that I chose this one to read this morn...I hope your life is going in the ups now..Sunflower

Oh, this poem is indeed a bit darker but it still exudes that famous 'Craig charm & unwavering hope'. The tree indeed seems the Tree of Life. Nice!

Hot as all get out here since April..100's now ..and still only sprinkles of rain on the land and on the crops...never really had a spring....many concerned about hurricane season..

Yeah, nicely dark but further along the darkness takes a turn for the lighter side and of life. Nice poem about spring, very different and unique, I think. I enjoyed this poem very much.

The darkness and seeming death of winter turning into the brilliance, life and warmth of spring. Using a tree to illustrate this is fantastic. A tree does show us all the different stages of life very well. Outstanding poem!

ooo a slightly darker write to your normal - the tree - or life - the power either way - the hallucinations as they decompose - nice!

I realize this poem is about a tree... I think... but imagine its power if it were actually written about a person coming our of a state of dormancy and desuetude?
