NO LONGER ALONE

NO LONGER ALONE

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

A place of darkness once embraced me...

"

In the hollow of my haven

where the moonlight flees the shadow,

a place of darkness once embraced me

and my dreams were of no comfort.

In a crowd I stood alone,

shifting silently for shelter,

and in hunger for affection

clung to glances of false pity.

Cryptic cries and aberrations,

swifted past my vision’s window.

Then my hungry hand reached out

and I grasped for life incarnate.

Quiet beauty now surrounds me

with the color of life’s hope.

And the hovering hordes are fled

down cruel Hades deepest slopes.

With the unexpectedness

of dancing summering snow,

I glance beside my path to see

my shadow now no longer lone.

Great Imagery. It captures the essence of what I feel when I leave to start the day. Loneliness is the greatest tragedy of mankind, imo.

my son is now feeling this kind of lonliness and somehow, I can never do enough. I hope that someday soon he realizes the people that are standing beside him.
I like the picture you put up too. it is well represented.
This poem is heartfelt and real. I agree with Christie, that unfortunately one seems to need these lows in order to be grateful later on.

I could feel all of the loneliness in the first half of the poem, and the hope that spread like sunlight in the last half. Your word choice is wonderful and you make the emotions very clear. Amazing poem!

Without those moments of darkness we cannot recongnize the light, nor can we fully appreciate it.
Glancing down the streets of solitude, we will find we are never walking there alone. ;)

A very beautiful poem. I love the transition from loneliness to being no longer alone. I beg to differ with Mr. Carr down below. Hades is both a place or a god just depending on the meaning you are trying to accomplish. The proof is only a dictionary away. I enjoyed your poem.
