Of Wolves and Men

Of Wolves and Men

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Beware of wolves in men’s clothing…

"

The men used to circle her

Fangs grinning at her young form

Eyes clenching her scarlet cloak

She was definitely what he hunted…

 She tread the darkest streets

And met him in a crimson room

The beast was fierce and deliberate

Ripping her basket from her fingers…

Little scarlet cloaked for fear

In darkest city streets did cry

How the wolf in shrouded head

Did vicious steal her smiling grace…

With starless twilight frost

Breath stolen and skin scarred

Dearest ruby lips callous wept

Living victim in numbed existence…

What a fine turn of phrase, a delicious, dark description of fleeting youth (or how I perceive it, anyway).

That was actually really sad to me.
And the presentation is great even though the artsy font was a little over board.
But it was very good.
Nice one, man.

very nice!! and dark! I think I most like the way you've worded it - it has a more classic or traditional read to it - an ambience created simply through word placement!! well written as always! nice!

Very dark piece.

Wow what a change of mood. I really like the twist to the old piece. It's always interesting when someone can take an old child's tale and make it something more adult. Love It!

Oh, this is so very dark...clinging to my soul in terror.

It's hauntingly fierce of voice and deed, yet so brilliantly portrays the victims of men in wolf's clothing !!

The photo is awesome...it complements your poem perfectly:)
