That first tender cry Fresh sound in a fresh world Covered in blood and wrapped in love And there were roses Pink fragrance of new life… Sweet sixteen smiles First kiss blushes Movies and magic and starry skies And there were roses Yellow blooms in the hues of joy… She wore white-laced summer And he wore her kisses on his lips Like a badge of honor And there were roses Like alabaster flames of devotion… Her smile lingered Amidst well-woven lines of life His hand firmly held in hers And there were roses 50 crimson blooms… A tender peace lays soft Her hands draped across her chest Teardrops like pearls strewn down And there were roses Scented of heaven and angel wings…
