The embrace of morning...

The embrace of morning...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I walked until I saw the last star of the night…

"

I walked until I saw

the last star of the night…

Chill air soft-stroking my cheeks

breathing out misted musings…

Houses sound asleep

sighing for daybreak…

I stopped and stared up

at the star waiting

as the sun-blushed sky

kissed the dawn

with cherry lips…

And I wished

oh not a subtle whisper

but a shouting entreaty

with a heart aching

for its homeplace…

There up in that winter sky

holding on to twilight

the star smiled

knew its job was done…

I puckered up my cold lips

and blew

and watched

as the last star

flickered

winked

and fell asleep

into the embrace

of morning…

awe, this is beautiful!! Kissing the star good night as it blinked out with the sun rise! Thanks for the view of the sunrise!! I'm a moonrise watcher and star gazer most nights of the year; sunrises for me are rare though I should witness more of them for I might see critters I miss by sleeping during the morning hours. Thanks for sharing your write!! Enjoyed it much!!

There is nothing more beautiful than dawn ... there is also nothing more beautiful than the coming night and watching the stars come out one at a time. This world holds more beauty than my soul can take in. Your words reflect that.

Aww Craig this is lovely poetry...so very lovely..
as the last star

flickered

winked

and fell asleep

into the embrace

of morning…
that phrase was so beautifully etched out..you are so very calm and patient with your poetry..it is clearly a work of finesse and skill..
you yourself shine like the first evening star that appears on the horizon...distinct and shimmering until it gets lost among the crowd of stars to appear later.

Oh, the imagery! Your whisper turning to frost in that cold air...nice picture! Very nicely written, Craig.

An exceptionally beautiful piece, Craig! The imagery is stunning and the emotions that flow through this are very well conveyed. I get the sense that the speaker has been walking all night thinking of the one he loves so far away until he realizes it is dawn, and she has just awoken and is looking at the same star.

Nice work!

What a wonderful way to describe the early morning.....
Your details were so tranquil and magical.
I love the personification of the elements too,
as the "sun-blushed sky kissed the dawn..."
Makes me yearn for a sunrise walk :)

I loved it! It might seem funny that I say this but I don't think I've ever been out side in the winter time to watch the sun rise, plenty of times in the summer and spring though! Kind of gave my mind a different view of the morning. Well done!

Excellent piece Craig. I could visualize the elements of your imagery quite clear from the smoky breath to the last star nodding to sleep. I felt cold just reading it. Ha A great description of winter.
