The Perseids in Your Eyes

The Perseids in Your Eyes

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I see the shimmering Perseids in your eyes...

"

As I gaze into the deeping midnight skies

I see the shimmering Perseids in your eyes

Flashes bright and beautiful off the moon

Dancing on a starlit mask they’re strewn

I see you there among their flying forms

You glimmer bold in their silver storm

I call the winds to carry my midnight song

To the star-shifting shores where I belong

Author's Note

An owl on the moon
The Perseids are so-called because the point they appear to come from, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. The stream of debris is called the Perseid cloud and stretches along the orbit of the Comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseid meteor shower has been observed for about 2000 years.

A beautiful poem about a magical show of night miracles. Your words always gentle the spirit, always colour the imagination of your reader.

And yes, the Perseids are extraordinary flashes equal to the light in a loved ones eyes and more... I'm not sure she could compete, but, love has its own way of looking .. ' You glimmer bold in their silver storm '

Thank you for sharing.

The Perseid meteor shower occurred this morning between 1 and 5 am. Of course, due to weather, I did not get to witness this exquisite sight.
Craig as usual you out did yourself with this beautiful writing. To see a shower of meteors in the midnight sky and watch the beauty they create as they travel through time and space to grace us mere mortals with their magical qualities is breath taking and soul inspiring. But "I call the winds to carry my midnight song...to the star-shifting shores where I belong'" is a stunning way to end this beautiful writing. But alas dear Poet you are stuck with us for awhile. You absolutely cannot leave the humble mortals of this earth without your poetic inspiration. You will just have to wait to romance Venus at a later date. For now you are doomed to write of the beauty of the heavens and we will continue to enjoy these very articulate and wonderful celestial treats. Wonderful word imagery, I now feel that I witnessed a replay of this mornings display.

Oh perfect timing on listing it.. as the 12th of August is the date that the stars are usually at their peak in visuality and in quantity visable. A great night to sit on the side of a country road where there is less light pollution to get the maximum effect! I used to fall asleep on a lounge chair .. with beverages and snacks on the side.. awaiting this awesome event.. this year I will be taking a drive possibly to view it again! I loved the flow of this.. tens to hundreds of thousands will have their eyes up to the stars tonight.. and over the course of the entire event.

Perseid lovers.. telescope or not will spend hours gazing.. in areas where the skies are clear. I also loved the note you added as it did provide some basic info on this.. so that anyone who has not heard of this can get an idea and it's such a romantic thing to me! Want to wish on a falling star.. this is the time of year where 2 lovers can just lay out and share their wishes together.. laying out in an open field or backyard.. gazing at the stars and each other! Thank you so very much for sharing this.. =)
