The Perseids in Your Eyes

The Perseids in Your Eyes

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I see the shimmering Perseids in your eyes...

"

As I gaze into the deeping midnight skies

I see the shimmering Perseids in your eyes

Flashes bright and beautiful off the moon

Dancing on a starlit mask they’re strewn

I see you there among their flying forms

You glimmer bold in their silver storm

I call the winds to carry my midnight song

To the star-shifting shores where I belong

Author's Note

An owl on the moon
The Perseids are so-called because the point they appear to come from, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. The stream of debris is called the Perseid cloud and stretches along the orbit of the Comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseid meteor shower has been observed for about 2000 years.

A beautiful poem about a magical show of night miracles. Your words always gentle the spirit, always colour the imagination of your reader.

And yes, the Perseids are extraordinary flashes equal to the light in a loved ones eyes and more... I'm not sure she could compete, but, love has its own way of looking .. ' You glimmer bold in their silver storm '

Thank you for sharing.

Very romantic yet bittersweet ending, almost as if you have to go and leave behind some love you can not let go. Thank you for sharing this, your feelings and gift for words.

There is something magical about the Perseids- perhaps it is their reliability, their constancy. Other meteor showers sometimes deliver more, and more spectacular displays, but the Perseids can be relied on. And, in the heady days of August, when it is a pleasure to lay out with a loved one and watch them. I have fallen in love three times myself under the Perseids, and this year, as I watched them, I knew someone I am falling in love in was watching them too, from halfway across the country. I wondered if we were seeing and wishing on the same star.

Your words gently and vividly evoke all of the wonderful feelings I have had while watching the Perseids. My first love, my truest, my warrior- he does glimmer in memory like the silver storm you mention, the tempest of time not erasing the lucidity of the emotion. What a beautiful and evocative write!

I hope you got to wish upon a few stars this year, yourself! Thanks for directing us here!

How fitting your inspiration and how beautiful a thing to see. I am glad you were the one to write about it and relate it to that earth defying love of yours. You leave the modern world behind in this, to create a timeless masterpiece.

Considering the age of the shower itself it's only appropriate that your poem has an ageless feel to it. and ever so romantic.
Very nicely penned. Cherrie

Of course a stellar event would transfer well to poetry. Your flow is quite exquisite in these lines.
