What are words to poets?...Hmmm:
What are hands, to a clock?.....Purpose: The only means of delivering meaning;
What are raindrops, to thunderheads?.....Fulfillment: The completion of intended purpose;
What are seeds, to flowers?.....Potential: The first and predominant mode of achieving Fulfillment!
They are tools we use to say what needs to be said; hoping that they may reach others to do what needs to be done. They are, essentially, our lament on every heartache and every prayer we have for a better world.
I like the way you put it, though, so much better. I'm still a cynic at heart, where you beleive in magic. Lovely piece!
The poets words are the gold in their castle, the jewels of pearls, the diamond edge kives. Words are but a figment of the poets imagination, but once on paper, these words can change lives, opinions, open up worlds never beknown to mankind. Oh words, what a wonderful gift. The gift of putting your soul in plain sight for everyone to look at, analyse and critisize. Words are the poets arms.
What are words to poets? Words give us the will to draw breath, they are our plaything, but also our responsibility. The are our heartbeats within the dark recesses of our souls. They hold life and death, forgiveness and transgression within their patterns. Doors are revealed and they let us glimpse experience and understanding. Poets feed on and bleed out words...
Words: Five letters make up the word Words. Infinite possibilities can be borne from those five letters. So you ask, What are words to poets? They are life, living, have lived, dreams, again, infinity... I am such a new, and unskilled writer in this sea of talent. All of Your words( The WC I am including as well) have helped me really reach and bend and twist so that my words are of pleasure or need for another reader. This is just an amazingly strong, eloquent write. Outstanding!!!
Love this! So inspiring! I think I may reread this when I encounter one of my ever-so-frequent periods of writers block. XD Words hold so much power and you prove that in this poem, I loved reading it. Clever use of words and alliteration.... yepp, this review is becoming a bit of rambling but I basically loved your poem! Sorry it took me so long to review, btw! XD
I love this poem! Such powerful imagery! The power of words shows forth so forcefully in this piece! Words inspire, seduce, sway, draw, repulse, incite...................... I tell my children to measure their words, not to speak negatively or without forethought about themselves or their situations. People use words flippantly. They don't realize the tremendous power of words. You, obviously do. Going into my favorites.
