I once met a friend

I once met a friend

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Just some poetic angst... :)

"

I met a friend

And made a stranger

I feared the safety

Loved the danger

A larger fool

In this little world

Thought I was a man

Till I met this girl

Walking as a child

I now crawl as a man

To think up nothing

And think nothing of a plan

Laughing in my tears

And frowning in a smile

Stay as far as you like

Why don’t you go for awhile

We move so still

And run in place

I see an outsider

When I look at my face

I once met a friend

And now she’s a stranger...

What muddles, conflicts, we see in the small private world of our minds..

I'm not sure if I've understood the meaning behind your poem is , but the above words are how I see it.

There's strong emotion, strong feelings of the opposite being a reverse of the reverse, as if there are doubts and actions that aren't what you're feeling, seeing...

We move so still
And run in place
I see an outsider
When I look at my face

I can understand that, i think.

Thank you for sharing these finely created intense and quite sad words

This is one that hits close to home. I once met a friend, and now she's a stranger. That line in itself holds so much power and so much truth.

"Laughing in my tears
And frowning in a smile
Stay as far as you like
Why don't you go for awhile"

This is my favorite part. Wonderful layout used here as well. I really like your style.

I think it was something short of genius to flip everything around, such as laughing in tears and moving so still, to describe what happens to you and your world when you meet someone incredible. I never would have thought to flip things around like that. Your poetic angst is more like poetic brilliance! The end is quite sad, but of course still amazing. It's going in my favorites :)

I can relate to this poem, and I must say it is really well expressed, and so sad... It's happened to me before, and it is a sad experience, but you really describe the situation well, even going outside the box. I am amazed, just like every time I read your poems.

Sad. I'm sure there are many that can relate to this...it's a pitty how friends turn to strangers, but I think that you should have eded it with a the hope that you will make her your friend again.

absolutelly magnificent work love....
like soulmates we meet people in life that threaten and amaze our ever sense for them to leave as quick as they left a mark.
beauty but tragedy.
hope but disapointment.
touching from a distance.
just perfect love....

Very bizare isn't it how u meet someone u click then u go ur seprate ways for you to maybe become enemies or stangers this world is full of weird and wonderful things but life is a huge puzzle full of paths.
And only u choose which path u take, Maybe u cut corners of the path maybe u take the easy ones?
Who knows.
I truly know what u mean though!
Well done thank you for sharing =)

It is amazing how you can go from spending countless intimate moments with someone then feel like you don't know them at all... this is how I now feel about my ex-wife so this piece speaks volumes to me.

What to say Craig? This again left me in tears! The simplicity and lucidity with which you have painted your agony is amazing, and touched the chords of my heart. I guess we all are "larger fools" in this little ambiguous private worlds of our minds, making friends with strangers and made strangers by friends so very soon! An intense piece, from you, as usual, with amazing metaphors when you write:
"Laughing in my tears/And frowning in a smile, /Stay as far as you like/Why don't you go for awhile?"
Explains the tremendous precision of your written words even when portraying subtle, intriguing human pain...keep it up!
