Runs deep...

Runs deep...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

My scars run deep, like a river...

"

My scars run deep, like a river

In the sacred blackness of my soul

Even sun drenched shadows

Fall dark on my lavender light…

What can be done to brighten

Days of hopeless rage and pain

A hand to hold in silence

A gentle kiss of comfort

Your promise of forever

Is my sunrise…Hides my shame…

I will wait for your voice

Soft as the scent of vanilla

And linger in the light of your shadow

Always...

Somehow, in spite of the opening lines, this poem flows like a gentle stream. You use phrases without sharp angles: 'Even sun drenched shadows .. Fall dark on my lavender light' I can visualise what you've written.

As to: ' .. will wait for your voice .. Soft as the scent of chamomile .. And linger in the light of your shadow .. Always ..' that seems to imply hope and want and, in such a beautiful way.

Thank you, yet again, for sharing your delicate skill.

You are truly "required reading" here at the WC. It is always such a pleasure...

Wonderfully expressive Craig, there is a style emerging in your prose, I like it very much. It is poetic to the max with no obscurity, you make your point emotionally with thoughtful images ...
Cheers,

I love how you use nature so very effectively in your writing. This one is no exception at all. I can relate to this completely, as you know. My own scars run deep along my skin, but there is an angel who grants me a promise of forever too, and she is helping to make those scars fade away. Keep up the writing Craig. I'd have to say this is a favorite.

Wow Craig! This is so humble and beautiful. A gentle appreciation to someone you hold dear, yet expressing the depth of emotion by the title and your strong words. I LOVE the visions you create with your words. One of my favorites is lavender. I've noticed that you've used it in several poems, and each time it is unique. Every time I hear the word now, I think of your poetry. Another great one. I loved it. :)

Craig, this is simply awesome! How do you manage to create such lucid images of human pain and desolation which is at the same time drenched in the sensual showers of love, longing and the luster of our everyday lives? Creating the ethereal amidst the mundane is such a challenging task, and your poems seem to be personifications of that every passing day! Look at the lines:
"Days of hopeless rage and pain/A hand to hold in silence
A gentle kiss of comfort/Your promise of forever
Is my sunriseHides my shame
I will wait for your voice/Soft as the scent of chamomile
And linger in the light of your shadow/Always"
such a cascading flow of images and metaphors of longing, pining and hoping for the quintessential love of our lives!
You made my day today!

Scars running deep like a river. Nice description, I can feel the flow of this river, driven by a tide which you cannot swim against it takes you in directions you don't always want to go in and then leaves you washed up some place wondering how you got there, picking weeds out of your hair...

I like how you have written about the dark and the light in this piece, it's a nice balance. The last part where you write of your love is just gorgeous. Love is the answer.
