I lay still

I lay still

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

My feelings that came in the night...

"

I lay still...

her warm sleeping skin

brushes my back.

My thoughts race

to the once summer sun

piercing the clouds;

her all in white lace

and laughter.

Such echoes linger

like the taste of chocolate.

Golden leaves came to visit;

cooler nights and darker days.

Colored leaves left

patterns on the

sand and soil;

a chill wind whispered

thoughts of despair

and separation.

Here freedom haunted us,

and white ice crept on our bed,

turning warm skin cold.

Darkness drove us distant.

But now?

Now the scent of tulips

lingers in our covers.

Skin is warm again

as earth and heaven awaken

and the fragrance drifts over us.

She brushes my back

and I lay still...

This is beautiful. I could actually feel the warmth shining through the clouds. Your talent is one many would envy (I know I do). You have this incredible ability to make your words dance across the page in bright vivid colours full of expression and tenderness.

What can I say? I love your writing, Craig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in the stillness is the knowing ...and in knowing we are...🌹

How we live so many lifetimes within one skin...still amazes me every single moment.

Oh, dear Queen, how did you even find this one?! Thank you for finding that time machine. :)
"I lay still"
An owl on the moon,
I see the onward moments playing out within memory
"My thoughts race to the once summer sun
piercing the clouds, her all in white lace and laughter"
Memories once as real as today will be the strength
for tomorrows.
"Such echoes linger like the taste of chocolate."
Tomorrow has no guarantees:
"A chill wind whispered thoughts of despair and
desperation."
Wait and see....
"Skin is warm again
as earht and heaven awaken
and the fragrance drifts over us.
She brushes my back
and I lay still..."
Lovely!
Blessings,
Kathy

this plays like the seasons .... summers warmth turns to winters chill but still one day spring shall come to renew that once was seen to be gone .... warmth will return and love will grow like the seeds planted tenderly within beds of satin soil .... :)

This had a relatively simple presentation as compared to your other writes, but that here works for your poem cause it keeps my attention only to your words..this was simple, fluid and beautiful.

That is hauntingly beautiful... I can feel the ghost of past love... you paint such a vivid picture.

This is very lovely, picturesque. The sentiments expressed here are rich with love and longing. You take the reader on a journey of reflection of once was in the early part of the relationship. The strong feelings, snapshot moments then the gradual but momentary decline of emotional separation. But the ending still captures hope when flames reignite and love is back on course. The final 2 lines are perfect ending. Nice work.
