A very heartfelt and moving tribute to a very beautiful and special mother. You have captured her in such surreal hues.
Its said that God cannot be everywhere on earth and so he created mothers. This poem certainly reminds me of that saying.
A blessing she, to be cherished and treasured always. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Yes... I love that saying... and so true... mothers are such wondrous gifts to us... to the world.

You are so blessed to have her most treasured memories. You are most welcome, my friend.
This is so beautifully expressed! I would be highly honored to be a person written about this way! This could be about a lover, a friend, a parent, or a child. I love how your imagery is unique & not at all the way some might describe a mom. Here's hoping the holidays are kind to you & your loved ones (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

There is such a marked shift in this poem. The beginning reads happy and free and then by the middle stanza the mood changes. Well done on that mood change. It is palpable.
My mother's very last words, with a wistful smile, "I am so tired." And with that, she drifted to her final and last sleep. Well deserved is her resting place having raised 5 children. YOUR verses easily flow into the brain and go directly to the heart wherein our memories reside. Your second verse stunned me to my core. My mom adored the coastal waters, having lived on both sides of our country shores as a teenager. The brevity or how you sewed those words together created a multitude of emotions and memories; such clarity! Thank you for remindy me, in memory.
Such a wonderful dedication to your darling mother. Your feelings for her, your ethereal skill with words create yet a deeper forever bond, Craig.

I do remember, yes. Wishing you and your family sweet thoughts and safety, as always.
This was a lovely expression of grief. Each of us handles grief in our own way. Personally, I've never had time to grieve the loss of those most dear to me...life beckons and things need taking care of. There's nothing we can do for the dead but say goodbye. The words of Captain Call echo from the movie "Lonesome Dove', "He's right boys, the best thing you can do with death is just ride away from it."

The impression is that the mother is newly deceased. A moving tribute here, filled with evocative imagery. The last verse caps off the poem splendidly.
