Oleander lullaby

Journeys on a crimson sky

In azure dreams I see her face

She’s anything but commonplace

Every night she dances there

Waltzing on my paper stairs

Nutmeg whispers in the leaves

Earth stands still as she breathes

The dust of my quiet dreams

Zinnia-scented paper screams

Eland stroll around my bed

Lulling me into her head

Firstly, I love your title, very dreamy ;) and the rhythm and your word choices are swaying, in my opinion. 'anything but commonplace' - ayee, that is how it is!
I read this piece several times, and each time felt this certain kind of comfort so thank you for that. Lovely write, Craig.

Oh my friend, so thankful you came by. Forgive my delay. This is joy!
she wakes me up in the middle of the night...and i have to write.
she can be persnickety....but in most ways she is the most faithful girlfriend...
the muse is the only steady who has been steady...when the other women leave, she stays.
this is a wonderfully worded tribute to her...

The spoken rhythm of your words (mine, for sure, though maybe not intended) turn this into a piece of music carrying emotions here to there and back between lovers.. scented and colourful. Your mind has always had that magical turn of skills entwined, Craig... maybe a fluffy way of putting it but.. best i can do at the end of the day. Tis a lovely, haunting piece of happiness.

Ah Fran, so happy to see you here again! Your presence is always a joy.
This reads like something an elf or fairy would write and I am HERE for it. Love the imagery, particularly the opening line. I only wish it were longer, but I suppose that sometimes the best thing is to keep a good thing short rather than drag it out!

amazing one my friend, I knew You to be talented with Fantasy and fairytales poetry, painting and "luring" us into Your won wondrous world, here for me it's also about Your inspiration, the wondrous "She", the reason of You words and the flowing of Your ink, when dreams and reality seem to be merged into one world. I specially love this line, "Earth stands still as she breathes" it reflects how powerful She really is. Thank You for a joyous dreamy read.

I was going to put this in my reading library to comment on later (haven't had enuf coffee yet this morning to form words) . . . but I love this poem so much, I had to comment on this right now! This is so beautifully stated with original fresh crisp imaginative imagery! It's a little bit like the poem I just posted about how my night dreams unfolded last night! But yours has a more light & airy sensation of floating thru one's dreams, whereas I was trudging down a dark trail in my poem *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
