Breakfast in Wonderland

Breakfast in Wonderland

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Perhaps the Mad Hatter could teach us all a little civility in a world gone mad

"

On a most ordinary day

When hope ran silky slim

I found a dusty doorway

And in time I toddled in

Had the Hatter for company

A tattered March Hare for tea

Knave of hearts with halcyon tarts

And the Mock Turtle’s azure story

Time stood still in the corner

As we drank treacle from a well

And the Duchess made pepper soup

With a bitter strong pepper smell

Then the Queen in her robes

And the white rabbit in pants

Smiled at me and my Alice

With a purple passing glance

When the time for tea was done

I arrived at my world gone mad

Where we shoot men for sport

Perhaps dreaming isn’t half so bad...

We do live in a mad world and I would much prefer breakfast with the Mad Hatter and his friends to some of the insane stuff which takes place nowadays. I ask myself frequently, whatever happens to people to make them do that? Your poem an escape mechanism. Very nicely penned. All good wishes

So thankful to have you by, dear Chris. May we all find a way back to a world of peace... soon.

We can live in hope:)
Nicely rhymed. Indeed, in a time of mass shootings, "Through the Looking Glass" seems totally sane.

Thank you, my friend. Yes, the news pulls me into a deeper darkness every day it seems.

2024 is here... May we make it so much more heaven than hell... Wishing all peace on earth... Together, maybe we go the distance... The night has a thousand eyes, And the day but one; Yet t.. more..
