How sleeps the world
in winter’s solemn slumber
cloaked in icy white blankets
of embroidered frost.
Echoes of autumn’s song
still stirring the clouded sky.
Spring’s swelling crescendo
rehearsing her grand entrance.
Summer but a distant apparition,
an island of sweet embraces.
And underneath are roused roots
wispy curling fingers
reaching,
rolling,
seizing,
straining
through stone and sand,
gripping tight to earth’s shroud.
Listen to wind whispers
softly dancing across windows
and wintry walkways,
shyly sighing,
speaking
in dreams of
dancing daylight.
Glimpse the soft sun’s caress
to awaken the day
with winter’s wonderland.
Without one the other cannot exist ..time passes seasons change and acceptance remains...as the world sleeps the deeper heartbeat beats ...we cannot change what must be as beauty comes forth for all to see🌹
This time of year, many are writing about the change of seasons, but this must be the most imaginative & original approach I've read yet! I love writing about nature, but this goes so much further for me. First I notice how your scenes of nature are so lively & animated, which sucks me in, makes me feel as if I'm part of it all, that's why it changes a tough mood so effectively, as Walking Queen mentions (below). It makes me want to see my surrounding with new eyes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your poetry has the most enate ability to bring calm to my erratic soul! I once again am at no loss here in this majestic wonderland...twirling and swirling through the waves and today taking in the magic of one of my favorite pieces of art as well!

The first ten lines are such a draw to the reader and the wholepiece follows the same mould; so eloquently written and filled with lovely allegory and description.

It is like coming out from the crypt, but in your words, much more beautifully displayed. The warmth and comfort of the crypt becomes familiar in its gray, enchanting charm. Offering warmth and well being when the world outside is painted in winters limited color scheme. But the beauty of that winter time lies in the feelings that in conjures and the need to recoil from the bustle of the other months and reflect on our own mortality. Really good stuff Craig.

dear 🦉... I can identify with your poem, as the years have flown by and many of my family roots have been tangled in my dreams and I feel as though I have not contributed to their legacy in so many ways. Perhaps they are a difficult Act to follow. Our world goes from Wars to Wars to Political stress.. giving us a feeling of unrest. We can only Vote and try to lift up the Spirits of our fellow men and women, as well as the young people. Amen.
