The angel of my shadows spoke, extending sacred soft flowers to me…
“Do you
see that path? Look at that walking place! It was there before you or I were
born. We ran across it as children, and now we are grown; grown feverishly mad
in search of what we left on that place.
A devouring peace, a trembling joy;
measured moments of igniting rest.
What justice is age? What mercy is wisdom?
They mock our fear and propel us to our death.
The enlightened mind is a barren hope,
for the darking grave cannot remember.
What good is gold in the grave?
And power is breathless in silent slumber.
I
am afraid to feel real life, but I don’t know why I say this to you. I do see a
once caring child in your eyes and I’ve no one else I trust to tell.
Is it a waste of life to wonder;
to wander through your mind?
What flighting recollections
your clasping thoughts may find.”
At
this, she begins to cry. I look away from her mourning frame, and stare at the
sea, where no path ever remains. My words come slow and steady.
“I did not mean to dig so deep.
But do not quake, for I too will weep.
And wander with you if in dreams,
until true sunlight softly gleams
across our hope’s horizon.”
“If
you only knew,” she whispers, “what horrid hand from the past has slaughtered
my hope.” At this a dark beast swallows the sun.
I can see this is a book you are working on...
A person may not be happy with his present, there might be regret, but time cannot be brought back and things were already done. Everything changes, and even an individual doesn't like his changing self.
Idk if that was it is all about but it was what I've taken from some lines.
Thank you for sharing. Interesting chapter.

I liked the gentleness and the strength in the words. You are welcome my friend.
I love this beautiful truth, " ... stare at the sea, where no path ever remains". And yet great voyages were done and new worlds were discovered through sea.

Your prose + poetry style still baffles me in a good way. Sometimes I try to decide if I like the prose best or the poetry? Sometimes I’m jolted by the switch from one format to another. All in all, I’m not sure what is the goal of writing in this alternating way, but your style is original & interesting, for sure. My favorite is the second line of prose – that’s awestriking in being authentic & transparent. Like a gift to be able to see inside such precious morsels (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Yes, this writing first rose when I was suicidal, there in California. And my attempt was to blend the prose and poetry to best explain my thoughts and feelings... all melted as one.
