My Last Great Darkness

My Last Great Darkness

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

In the stillness of your sanctuary

"

I remember

When it swallowed all light

The first darkness

That crept slowly into the edges of me

Isolation as all else faded

Terror as the night howled

Haunting silences with a fragrance of lavender

Yet I stood

Uncertain, but defiant

And the enlightenment spoke

Showing me that every cell

Every thread of me

Was inscribed with your name

So now I exist

In my last great darkness

The angel calls “Tranquility”

Waiting

Wandering

I sit sighing

Seeking with every breath

To bless you

Seeking my homeland

Within you

Though for now

I am merely

A silhouette

In the transcendence

Of your incandescence

In the stillness of your sanctuary

Does one have to be tranquil to receive love?
Perhaps...unless we find someone who sees through the chaos...reaches out and grasps our hand and leads us to that tranquility. Like knights of old, slaying the dragons of our uncertainty along the way.
The last great darkness...such an unutterably forlorn place to be. Your imagery was rich with color and emotion and depth. The flow of this poem was perfection...lilting through the reader on dark wings that fluttered and touched more than the mind. Perhaps my favorite lines were:
Though for now/I am merely/A silhouette/In the transcendence/Of your incandescence
To lose yourself so completely to another, takes a courage few possess...to live without that 'other', is a darkness few survive.
Beautifully penned...another perfect creation, C.Froman. Thank you for posting this.

So utterly breathtaking the words are that you are always able to weave...so stunning, I am always amazed. The first darkness is always the worst, especially when you can't seem to understand what you're feeling. But as it visits you time & time again, you come accustomed to how it makes you feel, becoming comfortable with the certain dark place it drags you to. Darkness is scary...but that's why we have pens & notebooks as our friends so we have a positive way to cope.

Thank you! May you find beauty always within you, and all around you, even in the darkness.
You are a master of the word. It humbles me to read your works as i feel so inferior. Well done
