Why are you poems always so painful? It's as though the past have more intrigue than the future...
You know you're a brilliant writer and you definitely have a lot of love from the comments. So instead of telling you the obvious, a challenge perhaps?
Let your readers into a secret event or feeling you had that was amazing and memorable. It'll give us a peek at what you're like when you are not hurting.

I honestly smile at every sunrise, laugh through every day. I have known deep, longing joy, and do live to reach that joy again in days to come; to reach home. It may be that in pain I find beauty and long to release it from its shell of darkness. For you, dear poet, I will create a poem that reflects the lighter side of my moon (with your words from Neruda). Challenge accepted. Wishing you such a day of bright, boundless blessings.

I'm looking forward to it.

The soul lingers, waits in a haunting stillness for the soulmate. Sometimes for eternities. But the incandescence is sure to wipe away the darkness and claim what is rightfully its own. Such a mystical feeling fills my soul reading you once again....

I love your very original take on the feeling of "being left behind" (for WHATEVER reasons!) Your word choices & phrase-crafting really sings here. I love the way things SOUND as well as the meaning you are conveying. The title & use of this phrase in the poem is stellar. I love the occasional use of thought-provoking contrasts:
"Haunting silences with a fragrance of lavender" . . . and "darkness called tranquility"

I appreciate your thoughts and presence so much. May you find endless light around you. :)
Loved this, C. I can appreciate the sentiment. To be a part of someone is a precious thing indeed. To allow them to be part of you holds a certain anxiety and a great responsibility. This poem describes the situation very well. Good write.

I am so glad for your words, Ted. Thank you so much.
i think of my dad here, who he was, what he accomplished...what got away from him...part of him sits in darkness now...creeping up on him...he's still there, and he knows it is eventually coming...
but he lived 97 years so far in such light---he is still smiling.

C Froman,
finding tranquility in heaviness. This poem was a sophisticated poem which left me deeply involved because I understand the mindset of wanting to stay somewhere mentally-emotionally until I have moved to the next season of life. So lovely. Blessings, kathy
