Sweet nostalgia painted perfectly with your brightly penned poetic soul. Tuck them away in our hearts and minds and our little boxes --to shuffle through them when needed to bring as much happiness to those who find after our loved ones are gone as it does when we pack them away. Beautifully done my friend.

This touched me on a greater level emotionally. Somehow, it seems impossible to me that we'll be remembered after death. Even in memories. But I keep on hoping, to be a memory..
This is beautiful, Craig. I loved reading this. 😊

And yes, I long for this too, to somehow let my life still linger even when I am gone. Your life already has touched so many with the blessing of you, and your words will carry on as well, for endless ages. This I know, dear poet. :)
First . . . you taught me that it's spelled "memento" (I thought it was "momento"!) Secondly, I love your word play, putting various sounds into little collections that sound good together, as well as lending vivid imagery. Third, I love the way the overall message starts in one place & leads smoothly & gradually to a very different place, yet the parallel is a thoughtful comparison of memories packed away in a box (for the two concepts).

I believe I actually wrote this one after watching the movie Memento, which inspired me to think about what is important in the vast world and what is important in our personal world. Happy Friday!
I like how you've transitioned from the mementos we keep as a reminder of our pasts to how we, ourselves become mementos that the Earth packs away. We never truly disappear, do we?

Thank you so much for your kind words, dear poet. True, we never truly disappear.
Profound emotions and a glimpse into an uncertain future. I like this line, it would be remiss not to reminisce. The what after runs across all of our minds at some point in time, wondering what will be said about us after we are gone, or what affect the absence of our life have on the ones we love.
Though I want to cremated, I have thought that I would love for my favorite poems to be place with me and burned. They would burn within my own soul and forever be within my presence, where ever I may go. This poem makes me know, I want that!

Such sad reflective words here, Craig. Yes, we all have a box of memories and albums of sweet moments. "Mourning recollections".....those who have gone into their boxes before us leave their footprints on our hearts and minds just as we will leave ours on those we leave behind. I think you have many years left to create those memories, Craig. Well written. lydi**
