The Dragon and the Door

The Dragon and the Door

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

What dreams may come…

"

You asked once, can a dream take form?
Have colors, texture, scent, taste, and sound?
Have deep thoughts, sweet tears, and warm smiles?
If I could design such a dream

As we have known
I would give it the shape of flames
paint it in shades of gold
With a deep blue light beneath
The texture of soft apricot skin in cold days
and of raindrops in burning nights
The scent of cherry blossoms, moist soil, and seaweed
The taste of dark chocolate with sweet strawberries
But the thoughts, the words would always be a surprise
It would sing in a soul of its own
That could never be dreamed or designed
Yours that so perfectly fit mine
You saw the big dragon this morning
All flames, you said

Fierce, magnificent, and powerful
Made of light in the middle of a burning sky

Gold that isn't gold, but light and fire

In the midst was a beautiful darkness

Within the darkness, a silent door

Where an angel stood

And she asked me to do it

For the golden wild dragon

To swallow you whole

To become your earth

Your everlasting cocoon

In ripples of severed sinking stars

Translucent sighs of golden light

As is her voice there in the black veil

How it was the color of indigo dye

We are the same element

We are the same fate

One light

One fire

Wow!
You did it again! Magic dripping from every line!
You painted an enthralling, mystic picture of aspirations, birth & death and ultimately atonement!
Loved the description of sky and the dreamy yet fierce power in it and the dark, soothing door it holds!
Bravo!
This piece is going to "My favourites"!

I am sure it does!
It was pure bliss to read!
This was a wonderful read! The fantasy ride was so pretty, and the poem was so captivating that I forgot where am I, instead of being at home I was in a fairyland.

Insight.

Ah, Sue, you are so kind! But I must yield all to my muse. Wishing you such a beautiful week. :)
A dragon is both darkness and light. It's body heats itself filled with conflict then looks for victims. A dragon "all flames" "sinking stars" and wrapped in "a cocoon" .

Thank you so much, Sean! And sometimes reality melts into the sweetest fantasy. :)
What a delight to read such words!

"The Dragon & The Door" reminds me of the vast implications of love stuck deep inside the analogies of fantasy - the fantasy that speaks the spirit. Your words - the choice of very words's translucently magnificent to be read, it has something to be spoken of 'love' itself that oft. enters the heart with much ecstasy & makes lovers swing-ing ov'r the chronicles of very nights till the end of charismatic nights. Not erotic but full of sweet & naive fantasy, for sure. You sound like speaking of the aura of Eden, I guess so. Excellent poetry. Enjoyed reading it!

Corset and Queenie are quite correct,, the dragon imagery, the soft belly nourshing as it devours you it almost reads as a pre- raphaelite painting come to verse,, such beautiful imagery in the hand of a gifted poet,, love it!!

I was swallowed by a dragon once...though he was not made of gold...he taught me many things necessary .....his aura was deep and rich....his inside smooth as silks .......his belly kept me warm with fire....Or like Corset mentioned down there...Maybe I was just drunk on Love :) You are amazing my friend .....love and light your way always even in the depths of my darkness. Happy Wednesday!
