Upon the Breathing Earth

Upon the Breathing Earth

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Curiouser and curiouser…

"

The chilled wind with frozen voice,

lifts saddened scents of drifted days.

Upon each breath, a doubting choice,

the winded-weeping figure lays…

I sense now the grand facade,

and dance in seas of bitter strain,

where colors paint the hand of God

now in remorseful, salted pain…

And how was I to know that day,

would alter every moment on?

And how was I to hope to stay,

when friends in movement now are gone?

So here I stand with grasping eyes,

and view my common, ever-soil.

Born here in sand yet raised to fly,

air filled with scented jasmine oil…

I walk by this sea alone,

upon the breathing Earth.

Now feel it stirring as I roam,

where wave on wave begins new birth…

It's always a joy to have you by, my friend!
Beautifully pen'd Craig, each of these stanzas could stand alone and still be affecting. The last is my favorite...

I'm so very glad you enjoyed it, Frieda... always so wonderful to have you stop by. :)
So here I stand with grasping eyes,
and view my common, ever-soil.
Born here in sand yet raised to fly,
air filled with scented jasmine oil…

Of earth and stars we are made. An amazing self-reflective and spiritual write.
