Orange whispers, yellow cries...

Orange whispers, yellow cries...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

The spirits of autumn rise as the golden leaves fall and cover the earth...

"

This unholy masquerade

when reality does fade,

the imprint of a god

on our mortal-stained facade.

Saints and spirits strip the earth

of the straining hope of birth.

“Kill the hope with grasping grave,”

cries the earthly mortal slave.

O, ignisfatuus,

foolish fire.

O, the lantern

in the mire.

Spirits quaking

with the light,

demon darkness,

far too bright.

Orange whispers,

yellow cries;

ever-haunting,

numb good-byes.

Good-bye, O childhood;

Farewell, my nickel joys...

What's ever-haunting is this piece...how we can wake up and realize what is real, what things have gone away, and then how you tied it in with Autumn... This really just spoke to me. You're amazing Craig! xD

Thank you! It carries me back to my childhood somehow.
This is why I don't like roller coaster rides. Fate feels like it has no breaks. There is something crafty and dark about this piece...I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's the color orange. It's not a full burn...but a prelude of the many burns we'll have to endure as adults. Orange feels old and sick....worn out like tarnished copper. We try to clean it, but it's like putting on make up. It's all a façade....it's all so temporary.

You have given Autumn a new meaning, linking it to the end of life's most pleasant, carefree season, childhood!

These lines say a lot and say it beautifully...
"Orange whispers,
yellow cries;
ever-haunting,
numb good-byes."

The spirit of autumn is conveyed totally here...
"Saints and spirits strip the earth
of the straining hope of birth.
“Kill the hope with grasping grave,”
cries the earthly mortal slave."

Never read a poem on senescence and death, so magical & exquisite. Thank you Craig.

This piece is so very cool. It had a profound affect on me and the state of mind I find lurking within me right now. Your word choice is off the charts good. This poem wraps around me like a serpent and squeezes the life into me. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed this ride. I am more than glad I found this today. I love the photo, the format and every other nuance of this piece.

Perfect for your autumn season.
I agree with Whitney that 'haunting' is just the way to describe this piece.

Ooh a little bit of darkness Mr Froman? I love the way you have depicted Autumn here, I hadn't thought of this perspective, I felt enlightened reading this. I love the gothic undercurrent that swept between the strangled cries of the leaves.... Listen..... Can you hear them? :)

I like the use of words. You took me on a very good journey. Artwork and words allowed me to feel the hunger of the unholy nights and activities. A nice ending to the outstanding poetry.
