Mieux vaut plier que rompre
(Better to bend than to break)
Les petits ruisseaux font les grandes rivières
(The little streams make the big rivers)
Tout vient a point qui sait attendre
(All comes in time to the one who knows how to wait)
L'espoir se réveille…
(Hope is waking up)

The hope wakes up.... such a beautiful poem, Craig. I adored it. Your words are tender and delicate like the fine petals of an orchid, rare and aromatic. Lovely and organic. From your hands, stardust is strewn across my night sky in shades of vibrant sonnet, and it's always such a treasure to become enamored within the blanket of your sentiments.
Lovely and fascinating write, I sincerely adore it.

I cannot thank you enough for breathing forth your poetic text here on the page, and for sharing the brilliant treasures of your heart and mind. May hope ever lift you with its wings.
Thank you for the translations...
Actually, if you had written this in English it would sound overused. As you wrote it in French, it gave the poem a mystique and rich flavor.
Hope is a wonderful muse in and of itself.
Very well conceived and well executed work.
An affectionate tenderly written bilingual poem. I like the aspect of combining two languages in a single.writing and I think you did that pretty well. The french lines fit smoothly in this poem and create a lovely and gentle atmosphere.

Your comments are a sweet light to me. Thank you! I appreciate you stopping to read and to share. :)
The best thing about this poem in my opinion is that you made three "facts" and then a wish in the French part of the poem, making the wish itself sounds like a "fact".. Making "Hope is waking up" a reality, a truth and a certitude not just a dream or a surreal vision.. That's so optimistic, and that I like..
And although I can't agree with all the "facts" on the list but I like the main scheme; descriptions followed by "facts"..
It seems to me you see the life like a musical where beggars dance and hope walks in eyes etc.
But, for me there's some contradiction in the first part the "fact" is not related to the description, see you can't be possibly bending when cursing the darkness as the same time, as the vocal resistance is one sort of resistance and that is the contrary of bending metaphorically speaking.
And just a side note my best lines were :
Les petits ruisseaux font les grandes rivières
and
Tout vient a point qui sait attendre
Peace!

I can only respond by saying that life is complex... wisdom can often seem contradictory simply because it tries to oversimplify the world... It has its proper place, but I do realize it's shortcomings... Your words are much appreciated! :)
I adore the title you chose - it's gorgeous in both English and French. This poem is dainty and delicate and paints a stunning picture. C'est fantastique!

(All comes in time to the one who knows how to wait)-- this is so so true and totally speaks to me. Waiting is truly an art.
I love how you incorporate French! Makes everything sound really elegant.
