Lingering on the edge of light

on silver-shining sequined streets

footsteps fainting, falling night

grafted gardens of colored pleats…

Rhythmic rifts of clouding skies

cadence tripping light the tune

lullen mists waltz olive eyes

I dance her earth and she my moon…

And in the tranquil ruby glimmer

rain descends in mothered pearls

she glides across the earthen shimmer

in seabird songs and lilting curls…

Craig, there is just something about the way you can dissect the briefest moment, and re-manifest it in gentle musical verse that I have not seen the equal of, here, or much anywhere. Your lilting rhymes, your subtle alliterations: I just want to heave a deep, deep sigh, during and especially after reading you. Masterful, as always.

I was counting the syllables in every line to have the number of the measured flow but what i found is complexities in the count. So I tried reading it aloud to hear my own voice rising and falling and by doing it I encountered the effect of the syncopation. You effectively organized the words and established a basic timing for emphasis. Very well constructed. I enjoyed it a lot!

the font slightly distracted me when reading

the poem flowed really well and the descriptive words were great- i especially liked ruby glimmer and earthen shimmer- great words that all go together.
