Devil in Disguise

Devil in Disguise

A Poem by AaronFreitas
"

It's been so long... hope you guys like it.

"

I saw you all alone; I could feel your pain

So I tried to help you find your way

You closed your eyes and took my hand

And trusted that happiness wasn’t far ahead

For so long we stayed on track

Getting over fears, never looking back

Without ever noticing the simplest change

I saw your smile and could see no more pain

Pain has a strange way of going away

But evil is something you can never change

The more I learned the more I pulled away

I didn’t want your demons in my way

The damage was done; it was too late

The second I helped you I sealed my fate

Good intentions turned to mistakes

Mistakes that only demons can create

You are the evilest of all, devil in disguise

You burned my heart with suicidal cries

I was a fool that you used from the start

And it would be you that ripped life apart

Another night I sit alone with my fears

Typing away these words hiding my tears

God give me the strength I need for tonight

Give me the strength to live this life

Reminds me of something I read recently about drowning in good intention. Sometimes best to direct these sort of cases to the professionals. Sure you'll be blessed for your efforts though. Some people are very difficult to help. All that aside, this was a great poem. Story-line, rhyme, rhythm - all perfect. :)

Seems you've helped someone who couldn't return the favour- but that's human-kind, you should know. It doesn't have to let you stray from the gift of nature; helping people who need your aid. The simple best thing you need doing is just that which you did in the last part of the poem-praying. Good work.

Very relating. Its funny to be reading this now, knowing that just a couple days ago, my mom and I watched the Disney live action version of Cinderella. I've already seen that movie several times (it's been my favorite fairy tale since I was little lol). Anyway, There's a scene in the movie where the stepmother and stepsisters start calling Ella all these horrible names like Cinderwench, Dirtyella, and eventually they create the name Cinderella as we know it. In this particular scene, Cinderella is about to sit down with her stepmother and stepsisters to have breakfast, and instead the stepmother tells her that she can only eat her breakfast after all her work is done and that she can no longer eat with the rest of them. Basically she tells her to leave, get out, and all that. So Cinderella is forced to eat in the kitchen. She walks into the kitchen with her plate and right there and then has her emotional breaking point. I asked my mom, "Mom, think about this, this fairy tale is about the power of courage and most importantly KINDNESS of the heart. Just think about how much wickedness, a kind heart can take before it just snaps or breaks. How does a person go through this much mistreatment at the hands of another and still refrain from becoming the same monster that the one who mistreats them is?" Life certainly is a path of thorns.

Hard lessons in life that's for sure - but within your poetry you can learn to observe them and not be them - if one can master the art of observation then one can master life itself - nothing is ever lost from experience.

This write seems harsh and personal, like it is all right there staring you in the face and waiting for you to go through the usual motions to let it all subside back into the everywhen - and it will subside - if you let it that is ...

powerful write here - I can feel the intensity of emotions XXX
