Love is a mystery

You can see it in his eyes he is ready for love,

Feeling like tonight could be the lucky night.

First date in a while and she is looking fine!

But what will he feel at the end of the night?

 

They share many smiles and bursts of laughs…

For a second no painful memories exist.

But as the night slowly withers away,

He starts to pull away and resist.

 

She wants to lay and cuddle on the couch,

So he spends the night willingly pretending…

That this current woman makes him happy,

But it’s only getting closer to ending.

 

Hot and steamy she screams his name,

She’s thinking she’s found Mr. Right.

While thoughts flood his erratic mind…

How he can get rid of her after tonight?

 

He lacks a connection with every date…

Something that is almost unexplainable.

Add this date to the growing list of women

That can’t build any emotion that’s sustainable.

 

They come and they go but they never know

That his heart is closed because his eyes don’t show

He is broken inside though his words do not lie

Love is as mysterious as angels in the sky.

Sad story of love and very well done. This looks to be maybe one of your new open pieces of work??? Anyway I like it. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like stuck in your own head and trying to find someone that wants to see if their key works to get inside.

Yes of course Willard :) That was my night haha.... it's a new feeling of shutting people out. I would say my heart has always been open letting everyone in and now it's changed and only the right person will find the way which is probably a good thing. Appreciate your review :)

this seems to be about emotional dissonance
about the person who closes themselves off to love possibilities because of having been hurt by someone (s) in the past, whether from other relationships or from family or friends close to them

this poem does a good job of painting that portrait
and definitely gives testament as to how complex and otherwise mysterious the human condition can be

all in all this was an awesome write Aaron

Hello Aaron,
Hard to move on when your heart is still broken.... the willingness to try is there - that's the fun part, but after the fun part comes the messy part - leaving a trail of broken hearts behind you.
I like this - solid rhyme scheme and good story telling - clear pictures painted by your words.
Is this a poem you would perform? I ask because of the CAPS throughout, it's almost like I'm being spoken at - I don't mind that, it's raw.

I've actually never performed a poem before although I think it would be fun to. Usually when I write I finish and then I go through and find a font that fits what I felt when I write it... haha might sound dumb but it's a weird thing I do with most my writes. And yes... it is hard to move on when your heart is still broken. I'm working on that :) Thanks for your review :)

Awwwh this is sad. It's so open and raw but I love it. I wonderfully poem. Another to add to the list... I can relate to this. I'm guessing you're still having troubling opening yourself.. there is always that once person that minus the walls will be able to see a crack:)

it was actually pretty nice weather, warm but overcast making it so much more comfortable waiting in the lines ...except for the last 2 days when the clouds parted..then it got hot but we had lost of fun in the pool to cool off!

Your words ring true, yet I feel there is more you want to say. Are you scared to let anyone into your world? Is it better for you to just live in the moment? Wouldn't you want to know if perhaps by allowing yourself to be on this date perhaps a second date can happen? Give yourself a chance.

I'm pretty open to let people into my world but I would say since getting a divorce it hasn't been as easy to let someone in. It's a topic that has mystery as it's something new to me. Thanks for your review :)
