A Painful Day

This one is about a moment, a day that was one of the worst days of my life. Open to your interpretation :)

The pain still lingers from that depressing day,

I wanted it so bad only for it to blow away.

The agony, the heart break, too much to take;

Crying in my sleep but not wanting to awake.

 

My heart was broken, cut and left bleeding

And I couldn’t see where this was leading.

That horrible moment replays in my mind,

This is a wound that doesn’t heal with time.

 

I shut my emotions off to avoid the pain,

Dysfunction becomes the way I stay sane.

I wonder if someday this wound will heal…

Or is this an illusion and none of it’s real?

Wounds may heal but scares will replace your old wounds but at least the pain has swayed. Sometimes I also get the feeling that my mind is playing tricks with me and shutting of the emotions is indeed a way to feel no pain, but never forget: no pain, no gain. Pain is temporary, salvation is permanent.

This was moving. Though it's beautifully poetic, what was most noticeable about it was how it feels to have come from a heart that still retains old pain because it was so deeply affected, because you're so sensitive. I've never had such a lasting painful memory, but I keep making new painful memories. Well, Aaron, now that you've creatively vented it all out here, I hope you'll move on and won't let it haunt you.

This was a great piece, Aaron. Certainly something I can relate to. I won't be cliché and say time heals all wounds, because frankly it really doesn't. It doesn't heal them, it just gets easier to deal with. You did a great job of conveying the emotions felt.

We all have these kind of days. I think what we do with ourselves after the fact is what matters the most. There are those of us who get stuck in the world of pain, we refuse to leave, and the ones that bring the heart open handed to be healed. :D

I hear ya... I don't know if you read where I write in other responses but it dates back all the way to high school when I was 16 I think... I'm beyond past it I kind of put myself back to that day. You know how it is back then... any small thing seems like the end of the world :)

What's really interesting is I never understood everything as well as I do now... understanding that dysfunction is what became normal for myself. When things were going good in life it felt weird and unusual...
