A Painful Day

This one is about a moment, a day that was one of the worst days of my life. Open to your interpretation :)

The pain still lingers from that depressing day,

I wanted it so bad only for it to blow away.

The agony, the heart break, too much to take;

Crying in my sleep but not wanting to awake.

 

My heart was broken, cut and left bleeding

And I couldn’t see where this was leading.

That horrible moment replays in my mind,

This is a wound that doesn’t heal with time.

 

I shut my emotions off to avoid the pain,

Dysfunction becomes the way I stay sane.

I wonder if someday this wound will heal…

Or is this an illusion and none of it’s real?

Wounds may heal but scares will replace your old wounds but at least the pain has swayed. Sometimes I also get the feeling that my mind is playing tricks with me and shutting of the emotions is indeed a way to feel no pain, but never forget: no pain, no gain. Pain is temporary, salvation is permanent.

This is a sad and touching poem. I can connect quite well to this and hence it touched me deep down. An amazing poem, Aaron! It has so much pain in each verse. Beautifully written! :)

This is a good way to start the poem. It shows how much the pain has been affecting you and calling that day a ''depressing day'' stresses the meaning more clearly.

These lines are heart rending. They clearly portray the pain and sorrow.

I don't know if you meant it to but somehow this made me think of a heart being broken open, it's contents being torn out and then the heart left bleeding profusely. The imagery is vivid and brilliant in this line. Superbly written!

And as they say ''Time heals all wounds'' but I disagree completely and so, it seems, do you. I liked this line for its simplicity and straightforwardness. Great job!

This changed the entire way I looked at the the poem and since you've left the poem open to interpretation I want to share my thoughts with you. This basically struck me as if you were talking about life itself where we can't really decide whether afterlife is real or life itself is a lie. But then, when you switch on the escapist mode, I guess you can't really feel reality as something real. The pain itself becomes numb. So maybe that's how it goes. :) On the whole, it was a great read. Thank you for sharing! :)

Keep optimistic when you hit times like this. Writing is a good way to get your emotions out when they hit you the hardest. There's always light at the end of every dark tunnel. I always like to say, "This too shall pass." This is beautifully written, and very emotional.

LOL! I can imagine your mom when you came out, she just must have looked at you and was like, "APRIL FOOLS!" That's really neat though. According to Muslim people, my birthday their biggest Spring holiday called Verus Bayram. Which is basically like their version of Easter or something like that.
