Another life Wasted

I had to write and get some things out... one of my grandfather's workers was found dead this morning... suicide

What could be so bad that you take your own life?

Not leaving a reason, tears fade into the night

You were only twenty years old so much life ahead

Now your family stands around asking why you’re dead

Always so happy, always carried a big smile

Living a life so simple, a life worth while

So what was it that pushed you over the edge? 

Grab the gun, lift it up and put it to your head

BANG!!! Just like that you took your own life

Makes me appreciate my sanity, I thank God for life

The reasons are a mystery to those still alive. More than likely whatever bothered him festered over time and ate up all his thoughts. Depression is a horrible thing. A fried of mine committed suicide and to this day, no one can figure out why. From what I've heard, it consumes their thoughts in such a way all other thoughts including loved ones are deleted. Very scary and sad stuff. Good poem.

People fell away from Godly ways and forgot how to be parents because they are to busy trying to be there friends.Depression is a subject we tend to steer away from people that have problems do not seek help for fear of being labeled by society and family and friends.Hollywood tends to glorify all the dark lifestyles and portray evil has no end and there isn't any good in our world.God is the key and to raise our children to know God's ways not force them but nurture them by examples in how the live and relate to others

Thanks for the review Bill... yeah I agree. Demons and evil spirits got to him and he allowed them to consume his thoughts, corrupt his mind enough to think suicide was the answer.

Aaron, This is a good narrative but more than that I hope it is therapeutic. Unfortunately it is guys you think have no problems that do commit suicide. They become so good at maintaining the facade that they cannot show anyone, even family, the anguish they are going through. They don't find ways to express that emotion until it becomes unhealthy. In our technology-ridden worlds, we as a society have tuned out the old fashioned values of community that gave people a connection and feelings of belonging. Not everyone who is seriously depressed wears a frown, and sometimes that is as far as we look. There are more services available now than ever for people to seek, but if we do not teach people how to reach out when they are in need, they do not seek help. As a society we treasure being the helper, it makes us feel good, and look down on those who need it. In other societies, its an honor to be asked to help, and those who give the opportunity are revered. Sorry you have this to deal with. Jan

It saddens me so for the loss of life. Having done battle with thoughts of suicide myself before I decided it was not an option for me, I understand. Watching it have its way of destruction in family members that did complete the act I see that being unforgiving plays a crucial part in the thought process that leads up to suicide. Usually, there is some sort of perceived or real rejection from a loved one that sets an already unstable mind over the edge. Your words cause me to reflect on some extremely unfortunate tragedies that has touched my life. Reserve judgement and offer compassion, because one does not know what their own future holds.

truest words my dear. Suicide is the coward's way out......i don't know the circumstances of it, but it is never an excuse. We are brought in this world as a gift. Yeah I hear ya... I still believe it is the cowards way out. I don't know what it is that gets us to that dark of a place... demons and evil spirits corrupt the soul enough to destroy your life. lol, i hear ya too.....never delt with suicide cases but somehow it's like a trigger for me....i've also been in pretty dark places....lonely, bleak places....when you wake up in the morning and think of a reason to wake up and don't find any...yet still found my way to the light......don't know...chinesse grammar for me....thank you sweetie :)

People think suicide is the answer to all our problems. Sadly it isn't.. Actually its teenagers and people in their early 20's who have a higher probability of committing suicide. The flow here is good and your words are quite meaningful.. 20 is to early.. Ask the people who are fighting diseases like cancer.. ask them what life means to them.. They can tell us what it's worth.

Yes I agree my friend... there are people who get cancer and would love to live a full healthy life and can't. On the other hand you have someone blessed with good health but somewhere something goes so bad they decide to end it. It really sucks!

Well written piece, very sad things happen like this, but I always say to
my self I can't imagine what pain or sorrow this person must have been
dealing with and I pray this person knows Jesus!

Thanks for the review James. Yeah, it is a crazy dark place he must have gotten in to and I wish he could have found happiness and found faith. I don't think anyone saw it coming to help him or at least try to help him. Thanks my friend!
