The Prayer

I close my eyes and pray to God

Hoping that He hears my cries

Demons have tried to bring me down

I wont give in to all their tries

 

Help me push these demons away

They are trying to steal my lonely soul

Everyday they mysteriously appear

Dancing toward hell with lives they’ve stole

 

My faith is strong, cannot be broken

I know you’re always by my side

I wont give in to sinful temptations

I cannot hand these demons my life

 

So I close my eyes and pray to God

Hoping that He hears my plea

That if tomorrow I do not wake

Find my soul and set me free

Aaron that was very good! Just to tell you something. God is always here for you. He knows you need him before you pray... He can read our minds. He is our Father & he knows when we are in pain or just really lonely. He might not talk to you one on one. But he does answer you... It might be in a dream or something happens that will help you make the right choses. I know this is coming from a 15 year old. But alot has happened in my life in the last 7 years... I know how it feels to be lonley, afraid, and down right depressed.... Aaron I wish you the best in your life.. Stay strong & keep your eyes open for God's answers.... It might happen a few years from now... But i know something goods gonna come out of this! ♥

I love the way the way your poem starts out & ends, resonating with the familiar bedtime prayer, but your message takes it to a fierce level when describing the forces that try to get you (all of us) down. Like the old saying: Courage isn't lack of fear, it's doing something despite fear . . . your message conveys a similar confidence, born of your faith. I feel the same way a lot of the time. Nicely crafted form, too, with solid rhymes & flow.

This is a very powerful poem. Your spirituality is very obvious in it, and I enjoyed that. Just a suggestion, but do you know what a kyrielle is? It's a type of poem that came from religious hymns. I think you should look it up for future works or maybe re-working this one. :) Good write!
