Open Letter to Death

Open Letter to Death

A Poem by AaronFreitas

My Open Letter to Death

I know someday you’ll come and find me

That doesn’t mean I’ll die easily

It's inevitable that my time will come

I can’t lose sleep worrying about the day you’ll come

Will you take me awake or in my sleep?

When I’m dreaming of a life that you'll take from me

Will it be by suicide or completely corrupt my mind?

Until I no longer understand that there is purpose in life

I admit it I hate you, I despise you and I’d spit on you if I could see you

Don’t get it wrong, that doesn't mean that I’m scared of you

I know someday you’ll come find me

That doesn’t mean you can take me quietly

The pain you bring, the hearts that you break

You should be incinerated from the hate our souls generate

So why haven’t you come to get me?

Are you avoiding me, scared of me or just flat out hate me?

I’m just trying to live my life and make the most of it

You’ll probably strip me of it just as I start loving it

When the day comes for you to take me I won’t be torn

Death comes for all of us, I’ll just be reborn

I think all of us have these thoughts about death. Though it can be maddening if we question ourselves about it for too long. I like the message that even though it is inevitable and will happen to all of us, that doesn't mean you are going to just give in.

I like the determined, headstrong tone of this piece.. As we get older, we all start to question life in general and try and understand and come to terms with our mortality.. it is something that is easily relate-able... It did feel more like a letter to death, than a rap (for me).. the lines I really liked because of the flow of due to the rhyming within the rhyme and the message is:
"The pain you bring, the hearts that you break
You should be incinerated from the hate our souls generate".....

overall, I say well done my friend..

The poetry/rap you've created has a great energy to it, its birthed this undying spirit in it of man's willingness to battle his mortality, even if it means to take the battle to the next life. Great flow aaron, its seamless, bet it comes to be a great rap. cheers!

This reminds me of the quote by Charles Bukowski, "We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that death will tremble to take us." It's a great poem and cool concept.

Hi Aaron

I really like the poem you wrote and the message and I think that death is a natural process

And that persons that die in tragic deaths before their time they become lost ghosts

And that those ignorant lost ghosts are turned into demons when they try to mimic what persons imagine such as cartoon characters of skulls

Because those lost ghost want to use those moments to try to scare persons because dead spirits actually dont have any powers unless they left behind published original literature immortality for persons to remember them

Lets start writing some novels for persons to remember us Dear Writer

I really liked this piece, but my favorite is the last line. Mostly because it's so very true. When we die, really we are reborn. Into a new life, at least that's what I believe.
You did a fantastic job here. & I love how you refer to death, as if it were a being.
Nicely done, my friend!
