The Rose Colored Glasses Are Gone

The Rose Colored Glasses Are Gone

A Poem by Kia

The Rose Colored Glasses Are Gone
Looking too hard
That you forgive before the start
Excuses given
For the lack of love received
Why so hard to let go of what we don't need
And disregard the good that was to become
Is it our nature that drives us to destroy ourselves
To tolerate unhappiness to our own demise
Are we hopeful beyond hope
Wanting to find what was never there to begin with
Love can not be created
By the hopeless romantic lost in a story
Open your eyes and see the world through
smoke tinted glasses
Where people are not perfect
Lies are told daily
And hearts broken every second
Only through that you will look beyond
What it is you want to see
And you thought you were looking for
Is already in your hands
