Hair Like Fire

Hair Like Fire

A Poem by Jeremy Cooney
"

Song, intended for no one in particular. Saw a very cute, redheaded belly dancer at one of my gigs. Let's say this is for her.

"

N’er no more

Shall I roam this land

For in the woods

Among the caravans

I seen a gypsy dance around

The nights boucan

Her hair loose and wild

Like the Lianhan Shee

Chorus:

She spun, she flew,

She flew, she spun

Hair like fire

She sang, she danced

She danced, she sang

Hair like fire

She drank and swore

My heart she tore

Hair like fire

A charm is cast

Dancing fast

There's fire in her eyes

I sat enchanted

As the drummers played

Fairies joined the gypsy

In the fray

Me thinks Far Darrig

Stole my heart away

Her golden shine

Keeps Dullahan at bay

Chorus

Musical Bridge

The morning come

As the sun broke free

No gypsy woman

Layin’ next to me

I smell of smoke

Around me, not at thing

But lo and behold

My bed, a fairie ring.

I enjoyed this, very Jane Austin and very regency in the wording.
