Time's Fall

Time's Fall

A Poem by Jeremy Cooney
"

A partial response to S. J. Tucker's Neptune, partial auto-biographical love song.

"

So many years waiting on love to start

While you package up the pieces of my broken heart, broken heart

The post office slow to deliver the

Parcel you sent, time makes me shiver

Maybe it was lost or stolen

Waiting for time to fall

Stand and walk, no more to crawl

Feeding on berries, no longer on plankton

Safe upon land where the fires are burnin

I can't go back to the depths, no no

For I have come, it’s my rise

Far away from the draw of your bonnie eyes, bonnie eyes

Fill myself with guitar and ale

Stand alone against the gale

I’m running away no more

For I take only what I give

Weary of this life we live

Tongues untied for the righteous of God

Truth transformed, immaculate fraud

Let’s just wipe the slate clean

And sing.

And sing...

Waiting on time to fall

Stand and walk, no more to crawl

Feeding on berries, no longer on plankton

Safe upon land where the fires are burnin

I can't go back to the depths, no no

For here I sing sing....

I sing....
