A Poem by Jeremy Cooney

Alphanumeric Romance

by Jeremy Cooney

One

More step

And we’ll know we’re through

Done

With this toil, says you

I’m making my madlibs

Mugging the mirror

Reflects the truth

Then you say,

“Love, love, love.”

You say,

“Love, love, love.”

Two

More kisses

Then I’ll sleep till dawn

A few

More can’t

Do no harm

You’re playing with puppets

In Pandora’s parcel

I’m peeking through

Then you say,

“Love, love, love.”

You say,

“Love, love, love.”

Three

Times I

Circle round you

You laugh

As the satin

Cicles, dark blue

You’re rounded in ribbon

Risible and rejoicing

Something new

Then you say,

“Love, love, love.”

You say,

“Love, love, love.”

Chorus:

I say,

“Love, love, love.”

We say,

“Love, love, love.”

It's our

“Love, love, love.”

We sing,

“Love, love, love.”
