Accidental

Accidental

A Poem by Jeremy Cooney
"

A song written after an open mic at Next Coffee Company

"

Accidental

by Jeremy Cooney

Starry eyes in the coffee shop

Hint of sweet to top it off

And your struggled passion fills the air

Lined paper in the spot, but I'm

Writing side-ways, lines are crossed

And a hungry specter stops and stares

The first to field still remain

Not so good at this silly game

But the voices spoken don't reflect

Wingman watches for a look

And I think, unless I mistook

You're smiling and you heart beats through your neck

CHORUS

These days

Their songs don't flatter me much

Our ways

Full of words you can almost touch

We pay

With our hearts out on our sleeves

Wish I could stay

But, for now, I've gotta leave

See you next week

Actors are the opposite

But you hardly ever notice it

Every exit an entrance somewhere else

It's a logical integrity

Super-glue gravity

Two guitars, you and myself

There's an art to the building of suspense

Gladly give you my two pence

Wind is blowing north-northwest

But when it's blowing southerly

Forget about the family tree

I'm here to do what I do best.

Chorus

See you next week.

See you next week.
