Whistling to the Day

Whistling to the Day

A Poem by Jeremy Cooney
"

Popularly known as my "Cat Stevens song."

"

Walking down the road today

Came across a doll

That a pretty young girl had thrown away

'Cause she'd grown up, big and tall

Remind me of those good old day

When we flew through life, inspired

Now we sit alone at night

Cold, weary, and tired

Bah-dah-dah...

CHORUS

(Whistles tune)
Whistling to the day, bah-dah-dah

(Whistles tune)

All ya gotta do is say, bah-dum

Bah-dah-dah

(Whistles tune)

I see a man collecting cans

With a Cheshire grin on his face

I see a boy beaming with joy

Talking to a girl, covered lace

I speak with the squirrells in their trees

The birds in their skies

Now, I really don't care that the people stare

I just walk along singing my song

Bah-dah-dah...

CHORUS

When you're truly free

The world you see ain't as bad

As you think

The air's there. The sunlight's fair.

It don't disappear in a blink

So, why not go through life

With a whistle and a wave?

You'll see things happiness brings

And your mind I swear you'll save

Bah-dah-dah...

CHORUS

Bum-bah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah

Dum-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah

De-dum

Bum-bah-de-dum-dah-de-dah

Dah-dah-dah
