In late 1871 the Great Chicago Fire destroys a family's home and they make the decision to travel west into unclaimed territory. They head for the Nebraska Territory, where opportunity is everywhere.

I am an amateur and just having a fun time writing about a long ago world practically forgotten by this generation of technology and ease. So, I ask you to judge credibility, realism, and grammar.
