You Called.

You Called.

A Poem by C.E.M.
"

For the boy who thinks of me when he listens to "Leave", and who I think of when I listen to "Stay".

"

A flickering screen, it reads me

your name.

I once again tell myself, I am

to blame.

for shame.

Your face is a shock and

a start.

My head has a different beat than

my heart.

Descartes.

A message that messes

my mind.

A lost, bitter feeling I’m wanting

to find-

declined....

It shatters like glass, I fix it

with glue.

And remember the fact, I cannot be

with you.

Author's Note

C.E.M.
Please, please, please, please, please, please.
Stop telling me you love me.
Stop taking up real estate in my head.
Stop making my body defy itself.
Stop existing on the same plane as me.
I can feel your breath from across a bridge,
on a different island,
on a different world.
God damn it.

I'm sorry to you, reader, I can't think of a worse cliche than writing poetry about your deadbeat ex-love who won't leave you alone... whether it's real, or all in your head.

I think its perfect to express that here. Your author's note is as powerful as the writing. There is never a need to apologize for sharing emotional capacity and the fact that you are a likely a caring human being. The ex thing is a hard one and this piece is a perfect portrait of that . Thanks for sharing.

aw thank you :) tysm
........is this a new poem? or another oldie? whichever it be, you've just proven yourself to be equally as adept in poetry as you are in prose. This is amazing - beyond amazing! The only thing I have to say about this is that you should NEVER apologize for art. Never never never! Who cares if it's cliché; who cares if it's trite - you've made it your own, and it's poetry in motion! (even the description at the top is poetry in motion - holy kwap!). The flow, the structure, juicy line after juicy line - those solitary words in between stanzas! BRA - FREAKING - VA! Absolutely wonderful! Well done!
