Burnt Love

Burnt Love

A Poem by cemily

I love you.
Why do I question it?
Does it fade over time?
How could it?

We were perfect.
We were in love.
But what is love?

Is it infatuation?
Does it simmer and die?
Does it burn out like a flame?
Is it only temporary?

Does love always leave you?
Was it even there?

I love you.
I loved you.
I'm sorry.

very deep and relatable. i've often wondered this myself. it's an emotion that's different for each person. i think most importantly we shouldn't mistake it for something else as you mention. when folks say those three little words a lot of different things get attached to them. good write ... :)

again, emily.....incredible emotion here...but the title would lead me into feeling the poet would use the idea of Burnt Love to create images in parallel to a burnt love using metaphor.
hope that helps,
j.
