Blind to Beauty

Blind to Beauty

A Poem by cemily

She danced like no one was watching.
Her dance was beautiful, elegant, and perfectly rehearsed.
But it would never be seen.

She danced and danced
To the song inside her head.
She never knew the joy that could come
From performing such a flawless dance.

She continued for hours.
As though every movement was a masterpiece.
To her every part of her body knew the routine that had yet to be created.

In that moment,
Her dance was the most beautiful thing.
She watched herself as she danced
Through her mind's eye.
And all was beautiful perfection.

She danced like no one was watching,
But people were watching.
She just never knew.

People were watching.
They saw nothing but a clumsy girl,
Who did not know a thing about dancing.
They saw but did not see.

They did not see the beauty in her head.
But that did not matter to the girl.
Her dance was beautiful perfection.
It did not matter if they could not see it.
They weren't meant to.
