Love or CareA Poem by Grenouille RoussePrompt: to write a criticism on something common
Post-Valentine's Day
and there's still the feeling The warm, sugary, sickly-sweet, bitter feeling Of the couples who speak, and sing, and poke, and tease, and deride Who claim the word "love" but it's more like "obligation" or even "fear" of being alone. "Hate" huddle between giggles "Stupid" said with a smile But the laughter disappears And the words continue to roll off of the same tongues That met only moments before. A couple? More like fighting, bickering, friends with benefits.
