The 70's & 80'sA Poem by Author C E ManorMusic and live concertsThe crowd has gathered with anticipation The tickets are punched to join the celebration $15.00 a piece; anything higher is extreme People anxiously wait for the curtains to seam People of all races now fill the center As late arrivals hurry to enter The lights go dim; the spotlight shines The announcer comes out and makes a few rhymes He holds his arms high to announce the guests The stage lights up revealing smoke and glittered vests Eight or more people are now on the stage Performing dance steps; harmonizing; instruments being played Not one song; not five; not ten All of their hits rose in the wind Looking at the time as they start another set "I gotta work tomorrow. How much sleep will I get?" Not one band, but another, and another High fiving people next to you like you knew each other The final song plays and they give us a bow We laugh and cheer as they wipe their brow A performance of a lifetime; an unforgettable event I can truly say, "That was money well spent" Time to leave; go pick up the babies I truly miss the concerts of the 70s & 80s. © 2014 Author C E Manor |
