Snow WhiteA Poem by Joyce MarieA poem of the classic fairytale with a dark twist. The apple slipped from her cold little fingers
and fell upon the ground
Silken lashes close forever
and pale lips wont make a sound
Half alive but barely breathing locked in her mental tomb
Crying inside and desperately screaming
there's no space in this glass cacoon
Familar voices reside to softly whisper she was a soul we could not save
It's such a shame so fragile and tender
but destined for the grave
No prince to charm her to lift those lashes She's better off I'm sure
She was never meant for such a cruel world
Too beautiful, a soul so pure
The truth comes with a price, much like a dagger the pain cuts like a knife
No, she never heard the sound of love's call
Noone came to save her life.
The years passed by and seasons changed Summer's day turned to winter's night
and the child grew up still locked in her dreams
until she found the courage to change her plight
A tiny voice whispered inside of her heart Dont you know there is noone else
If you want to escape then you must learn to fight
Only you can save yourself
She ran down the corridor of her nightmares and dreams searching to find the way
but echoes of the past called like a long lost friend
beckoning her to stay
The walls were closing in it seemed as she stayed trapped within the glass
She knew she was changing into a hideous beast
but could she taste the aftermath?
The walls shattered apart but the poisoned remained corrupting all that was good
and from the the fragments emerged a snow white queen
where a half grown girl once stood
Too cold now to hear love's call Her heart has turned to ice
Her youth only a remainder of days to be sought
for even beauty comes with a price
She picks up a sliver of broken glass and places it on a stone wall
she smiles at the flawed image of her reflection
and whispers who is the fairest of them all
