Fields of Gold

Fields of Gold

A Poem by Joyce Marie

The sun was setting like a bright rose quartz
among the fields of gold
you held my hand and lead the way
you spoke of secrets I've never told

The air was warm, your eyes were blue,
and I remember your favorite song
I remember how much you loved me
Forgeting takes so long

You brushed your lips against my cheek
and we fell laughing to the ground
I remember I was always searching for something
until it was you I found

You held me close never letting go
I felt safe inside your heart
So far away from the rest of the world
Now we are worlds apart

So many years since you've been gone
Another world away
but I remember well those fields of gold
I fell in love that day

I'll remember you when a soft wind blows
among that golden sea
A time when I felt whole
A memory of you and me
