One More Day

One More Day

A Poem by Joyce Marie

Last night I had the strangest dream
I dreamed that you were gone
and every place your foot step fell
held the memory of our song

I dreamed the world was empty
a stranger to my eye
your voice resounded in my heart
the echo of goodbye

My heart was weeping softly
for a love I was destined to keep
I laid beside your earthly grave
and drifted to deep sleep

I woke to kisses from your mouth
 fingers tangled in my hair
the resounding reassurance
that you chased away the nightmare.

I found my way back into your arms
saying things I could never say
Then you disapeared into the dark
leaving me wishing for one more day

Last night I had the strangest dream
I dreamed that you were here
and every place your memory touched
lingered through the years

I found my way back to your house
like many years before
but ghosts of memories past
only leave me wanting more

I wish I had one more forever
to say all I couldn't say
but having you here for a short piece of time
would keep me wishing for one more day
