Until Tomorrow Becomes Today

Until Tomorrow Becomes Today

A Poem by Joyce Marie

I'd like to pretend my whole life is in balance.

I shall enjoy this luxury for today.

For tomorrow I won't find it again

Tomorrow is a somber shade of gray

I have lived in the shadow of the sun too long

I want to feel light upon my face

but tomorrow I'll stand in a shaded grove

For I know I haven't that grace

I'd like to believe in a single word

in lips that speak of truth

but years have been spent on meaningless words

and all I have is wasted youth

I have lived in the shadow if love's demise

I still long to feel your kiss

but tomorrow I'll stand in a barren field

Remembering all that I still miss

I'd like to hope there's someone out there

with a heart that's strong, good, and true

but years will be spent waiting love's return

and I know I haven't you

I'll believe in the words that you whispered

I know you would've wanted it this way

I'll go on as if I don't miss you

Until tomorrow becomes today
