When You're Gone

When You're Gone

A Poem by Joyce Marie

I FINALLY GOT THE NERVE

TO FACE THE FACT YOU WENT AWAY

I WAS A LITTLE UNSTABLE AT TIMES

AND BARELY MADE IT THROUGH THE DAY

I REMEMBERED ALL THE GOOD TIMES

AND KNEW I HAD TO LET IT BE

I DID WHAT YOU WOULD’VE WANTED

AND FOUND THE STRENGTH INSIDE OF ME

IN THE BEGINING i COULDN'T  UNDERSTAND

WHY YOU WENT AWAY

ANGRY AND CONFUSED

WITH SO MANY THINGS I NEED TO SAY

ALL THE MOMENTS WE SHARED

STILL EMBLAZONED IN MY MIND

AND I’M BROKEN CUZ YOU LEFT ME

THIS WOUND WON’T HEAL IN TIME

MEMORIES OF YESTERDAY

STILL LINGER IN MY HEAD

IN MY DREAMS I SCREAM FOR YOU

BUT YOU CAN’T HEAR A WORD I’VE SAID

THERE'S NOONE HERE TO BLAME

BUT I FEEL I’VE LET YOU DOWN

I CANNOT TAKE IT ALL IN

AND COMFORT CAN’T BE FOUND

I’D SEARCH A MILLION GALAXIES

JUST TO FEEL YOU’RE TOUCH

YEARNING FOR YOUR AFFECTION

MY HEART MISSES YOU SO MUCH

ALL THOSE SWEET WORDS SPOKEN

AND PROMISES KEPT SO TRUE

EVEN THROUGH DEATH AND DISTANCE

                                 I’LL GO ON LOVING YOU
